Robotic process automation, or what we call RPA for short, is one of the technology applications that has best optimized the performance of business processes, because it quickly and effectively achieves significant cost reductions. RPA tools are capable of replacing manual labor by 15% to 80% or more.
75% of the opinion in Future of Supply Chain, a survey conducted by Gartner® in 2018, envisions a significant decrease in manufacturing jobs by 2025, in contrast to 77% who are of the opinion that people will be at the center of automated production.
The human element is still present, but with a distinct shift in the nature of work. Daniel Myers, director of supply chain at Mondelez International, states that «repetitive work will be carried out automatically by robotic technology, whether in-line or physical, while people will be able to focus on modeling, market analysis and other value-added work to gain consumer trust.» [1].
The level of control of companies has been transformed; automation processes have modified the forms of employment and the functioning of organizations. In short, and in the opinion of 80% of those surveyed by Gartner®, RPAs will be an additional employee, with whom it will be necessary to live side by side.
The organization’s ability to adapt to specialized technology and to coexist with artificial intelligence tools will be the most relevant actions to determine the performance of companies in the coming years.
Only those organizations that manage to reduce the costs of repetitive processes, those that can eliminate from their tasks those that require several people to perform, those that entail a high margin of error, as well as those that require too much time to complete, will be able to maintain the value of their position in the market.
It is just in that section where software tools such as ‘robots’, have had a growing interest within the commercial sphere; according to the IT consulting firm Forrester, the performance of the RPA market in software will grow to $6 billion dollars in 2025, while services will reach $16 billion. The level at which these services are priced highlights the direction business dynamics will take.
At MSP Mobility Corporation® , we drive a division dedicated to the development of software ‘robots’, which we implement within the operating strategies of companies to optimize these aspects and thereby increase their overall performance, revenue and return on investment.
In MSP®’s experience, RPA tools have been found to be some of the most effective in impacting productivity gains. The technology and specialized design of robots, integrated as a virtual employee within the organizations overall program, have changed the way we understand processes such as transactions, data manipulation, response generation and even communication, when put on par with other types of technology tools.
In addition to reducing personnel costs and human error, this virtual employee allows for much clearer control over the operation of the company, in an intuitive way, based on the organization’s own rules and an architecture capable of interacting with the actions and decisions of the human worker.
Your next worker could be a robot, an artificial intelligence that articulates with the processes of your business; however, keep in mind that it will not be possible to completely eliminate the human factor: the challenge is also to keep the rest of your workers trained to coexist with this virtual employee. For this reason, at MSP® we are concerned that these tools are easy to access and use, attractive to a vision that is technologically in line with the mentality of the new generations of employees.
